Remote Inspection Firm Thermography Project At Grimsby Leisure Facility

Remote Inspection and survey company DJM Aerial Solutions win a commission to provide aerial thermography of a second Leisure Centre in Grimsby.

Remote Inspection firm DJM Aerial Solutions were recently awarded a commission from Engie to carry out an essential thermography assessment of Grimsby Leisure centre in North East Lincolnshire.

Remote inspection company DJM Aerial Solutions are no stranger to aerial thermography with leisure centres being quite a niche that they have been able to mold accordingly. The remote survey firm was awarded a commission late 2018 to carry out a thermal inspection of a Yorkshire based leisure facility directly for Swiss leisure company Alpamare. Read more about it here

Grimsby leisure facility instructed remote inspection company DJM to cover the roof asset using the drone-mounted thermal camera and report on any remedial requirements such as abnormal heat signatures, hot spots, cold spots and potential energy loss across the leisure facility roof area.

Remote Inspection, Thermography

DJM Aerial Solutions were able to utilise their M210v2 and an associated thermal sensor, the Zenmuse XT2 to establish the thermal condition of the roof span after recent work was carried out to the facility, in this case, both patchwork to repair leaks and the addition of fixed solar panels. Both repair works had potentially caused a few issues.

The aerial thermography revealed dozens of cold spots around penetrations and in gullies where rainwater had likey gathered over time and eventually penetrated the roof membrane and into the roof fabric dampening the insulation. The Grimsby leisure facility where experiencing leaks in certain areas and DJM were able to analyze the areas post remote survey and advise on the potential for remedial repair work.

Aerial Thermal Survey Deliverables.

The client requested a photographic condition report with both thermal imagery and visual imagery alongside allowing for proper identification of any areas of concern, We were able to offer thermal data with radiometric capability allowing the client to visualise the actual temperature of the hot/cold spots or thermal signature which they may be concerned with. Allowing for better analysis adding weight to build a case on which informative decision to take next.

The thermal assessment will allow the client to make a judgement on whether or to repair, or replace the roof covering and insulation or whether a totally different method needs to be considered.
