Anaerobic digesters are complex, enclosed systems that demand regular inspection to maintain performance, compliance, and operational safety. Internal corrosion, coating failure, mechanical damage, and structural degradation can compromise throughput, contaminate processes, or breach environmental standards.
At DJM Aerial Solutions, we deliver high-precision drone inspections of anaerobic digesters using the latest confined space UAV technology. Our drones can safely navigate GPS-denied, low-light environments to capture actionable visual data, without the need for scaffolding, confined space entry, or shutdowns.
What We Inspect
Whether you’re planning scheduled maintenance or conducting post-operational assessments, our UAVs help assess:
- Internal tank walls and linings
- Roof structures and baffle plates
- Mechanical agitators (where applicable)
- Inlet and outlet zones (where accessible)
- Signs of scaling, delamination, or corrosion
- Evidence of coating failure, cracking, or mechanical stress
We also provide fully annotated inspection reports with HD visuals, optional thermal overlays, and 3D spatial referencing where required—ideal for pinpointing defects and informing repair strategies.
Why Use Drones for Anaerobic Digester Inspection?
- No Manned Entry Required – Our drones are purpose-built for confined space environments, keeping your personnel out of harm’s way.
- Minimal Downtime – Most inspections can be carried out swiftly during routine shutdown windows, helping reduce disruption.
- High-Definition Visuals – 4K imaging and 360° lighting deliver clear views of defects and deterioration.
- LiDAR Mapping Available – Generate 3D point clouds of internal spaces to support integrity assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Fast Turnaround – Receive full inspection deliverables within 24–48 hours.
Supporting Associated Infrastructure
While our drone service focuses on digester vessels and internal tanks, we can also visually assess associated accessible infrastructure, such as external pipework, mounting flanges, and visible joints, where safe and practical. However, dedicated pipeline inspection (e.g. long-distance buried or pressurised pipework) is not carried out using UAVs alone and would typically require alternative NDT or crawler-based methods.
Trusted by Industry
We support anaerobic digestion and waste-to-energy facilities across:
- Agricultural and biogas sites
- Commercial food processing plants
- Municipal AD installations
- Renewable energy and utilities sectors
Our team is fully CAA-certified, confined space trained, and compliant with HSE best practices for high-risk industrial environments.
