Univar Solutions
Teesside drone company DJM Aerial Solutions secures second commission in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire for the biggest chemical storage and distribution company in the world Univar Solutions.
German instrumentation company My Omega Systems approached the Teesside drone company, DJM Aerial, after a previous commission at the chemical distribution giant’s facility in Middlesbrough, Univar solutions largest facility.
Univar and My omega systems are looking to facilitate drone technology across their sites in Europe by providing a high-resolution mapping solution of their assets at each site giving a general overview and understanding of each bulk storage tank and its instrumentation such as product level sensor tech and other automated solutions.
The Orthomosaic or Orthorectified imagery also provides an unparalleled view of the assets allowing the end user to isolate specific areas within the orthomosaic and zoom in to a particular area and analyze any remedial requirements or corrective actions.
Orthomosaic or Orthorectified Mapping
Orthorectified mapping, Orthoimage or Orthomosaic are all essentially the same product with different names and is the technique of stitching images together to create a high definition image or map `whilst removing the perspective distortions that would be included during a normal photographic stitch. The method known as orthorectification produces a perfectly produced orthophoto.
Orthoimages are used for several scenarios as to when properly rectified against its respective grid the orthoimage can be utilised to take measurements from allowing new developments from plan. They can provide a base mapping from GIS for example and give detail for watershed analysis.
Univar solutions are particularly interested in these outputs due to the resolution achieved. Drone service company DJM Aerial has achieved down to 0.3cm ground sampling distance translating to 3mm on the ground being equal to 1 pixel in the image. This allows the end user to get into component parts on each bulk storage tank and identify components.
