DJM Aerial Solutions Carry Out Bridge Survey Beneath Sea Level In ATTI Mode.
DJM Aerial Solutions leaders in drone survey north UK, were recently employed by highly esteemed engineering consultancy Billinghurst George and Partners to conduct a drone survey on the underside of a beam bridge used for transport from one site to another, for industry giant Siemens Turbo Machinery Lincolnshire depot.
After negotiating the highly regulated MOD no-fly zones in and around Lincoln city centre, that are home to the many high profile MOD and RAF strongholds, including that of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team. More commonly known as the Red Arrows, based in RAF Scampton less than 10 Miles north of out work site, but also the likes of RAF Waddington one of the biggest and heavily occupied RAF bases in the UK, RAF Digby and RAF Coningsby all very active, and all very accommodating and very appreciative of the information we were able to offer.
During our dealings with the MOD, we were obviously extremely appreciative of our training within this remit, by Flyby technology a leading NQE with the UK. Our drone training had us extremely well prepared for this situation and I really can’t recommend the guys at Flyby Technology enough for their experience and assistance in negotiating the highly regulated military airspace, which is clearly where they excel given their military and aviation experience. It was a pleasure to deal with the MOD and they were highly applausive of our training and experience.
DJM Aerial Solutions experts in drone survey north UK were able to use their previous experience to carry out a successful bridge survey on the underside of the asset. The Siemens site was obviously very intense with several high electromagnetic frequencies interfering with our compass there was also a live rail line running close to the site. We were operating at the bottom of a valley and were 5 metres below sea level. This clearly had a major effect on our GPS coverage and we decided the best and safest option would be to operate in ATTI mode. We also decided that the sensors surrounding the drone would need to be disabled as we were flying over water and the reflection from the surface might have caused false commands.
Our Risk Assessment was written and passed by Siemens site officials along with Billinghurst George and Partners and we started the task using the stable Matrice M210 and top mounted camera Zenmuse Z30. This allowed us to navigate to the centre of the bridge and pan and zoom the camera under control whilst maintaining stability of the UAV knowing we had several metres of room surrounding the drone before worrying about collisions.
DJM Aerial Solutions are leaders in drone survey north UK but also have the ability to take this further afield and offer the same level of service at extremely competitive rates. Giving you the confidence that you will be well looked after. With 20 engineering experience in a multitude of industries DJM Aerial Solutions is one of the leading drone service providers within the UK.
Drone Survey is a small part of what we are able to achieve but at the same time a fantastic solution to requirements that traditionally required rope access personnel or scaffold access.
We are also able to offer the more traditional drone filming, aerial filming, drone photography. Mapping and photogrammetry, 3D Images and any other survey at height that might require it.
